There is a book written by Srila Prabhupada (the great spiritual master who brought Krishna Consciousness to many countries), called "The Science of Self-Realisation". If you purchase this book and read it, it will explain so many things; that we are spirit-soul, our purpose and our relationship with God. Then you can take it from there. It really is a most excellent book and so simple to understand. That is how I came to Krishna Consciousness.

Krsna Consciousness, which may also be called God consciousness, is about the perfection of life, and achieving lasting, eternal happiness, knowledge, and peace. this may only be achieved by reviving one's eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord, Who is known by many names with Krishna as His Original, Primordial, most attractive and most intimate name. To those who seek God sincerely, Krishna will reward the necessary intelligence from within and from without that by which one may know and return to Him. Simply try to hear respectfully and submissively from the devotees who delight in recounting the glories and pastimes of the Lord, both those devotees who's physical association you are fortunate enough to find, and those bonafide acaryas in their books in the form of transcendental, real association, vani. Spiritual awakening beings with "inquiring" and "hearing" from the devotees of the Lord. How to be happy? From whence do I come? How have I come here? Where is home? What is the meaning of life? and most importantly, at the risk of repetition, how can I be happy? Not sometimes, or temporarily, but always? These answers, when you find them, you will then already be fully Krsna Conscious.

The word religion means to "re link" or reestablish a relationship and in this case it refers to the Supreme Entity who is known by many names , God , Allah , Jehova , Vishnu , and so on.
If you go to a dentist and he cuts your nails and hair then you can be sure he's not a dentist , in the same way if you follow a religion but do not learn how to love God then you can be sure it's not a bonafied religious process . The purpose of "religion" is reestablish YOUR relationship with the Supreme.
Now the thing is that everyone has a different relationship with God and this can be understood by the level of inner satisfaction one feels while following any particular process. In other words you will Know you're at the right place by your attraction to it.
What makes Krsna Consciousness different is the understanding that although Krsna is the greatest person, beyond time and space but at the same time the controller of time and space, greater than all, beyond the preview of the material senses ,etc etc,, still He is the most charming of young men and He takes great pleasure in an enormous variety of relationships with an enormous number of intimate friends . Here you will learn to love god in an intimate way as though only the two of you exist. Your loving relationship will blossom as you sincerely follow your heart and all fear will disappear as your love grows..
As Baladeva has already said, by chanting the Names of Radha and Krsna , the Hare Krsna Mantra, Hare Krsna Hare Krsna ,Krsna Krsna hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare, over and over you will experience something in your heart . You can chant anywhere any time and if you continue you will automatically want to give up certain things that may not gel with your heart.
So really if you look hard you will find some differences between Krsna Consciousness and other religions in the sense we want to love God and not see him as someone devoid of a need for our love. He most certainly is hanging out for your love and affection.
So climb aboard and learn who you really are. Find some Devotees and learn from them. It will be such a relief for you.
