ANOUNCEMENT FOR NEW ENGLISH SONGBOOK!

By the mercy of Srila Gurudev a new English songbook has just been printed

Dandavat Pranams to all the devotees
I want to tell everyone about this songbook.
These songs are written in English and are directly translated from the Bengali songs.
My mother had first composed Namaminandanandana into an English song and sang if for Srila Gurudev in Maui in 1998.
Srila Gurudeva liked it a lot and it was from that time He ordered and encouraged my mother to make all the songs into English. Now it is 2009 and looking back over the years Srila Gurudeva has so many times directed these songs to be made into a book and published. Since that time the songs have gone through so many different stages. Some songs took actually months to complete -and some verses took even longer.


After my accident I returned here to my home in Hawaii and I have been working on this book for the past five years or so.My mother is very good at the poetry part of the song and I have done my best to make sure that the English meaning is the same as the Bengali. So many times I made my mother redo a song and I thank her for her tolerance
and flexibility in working with a hardhead like me

It is my sincere feeling that these songs can help all those who know English get a better understanding of the songs. I think just by singing the English version even 5 or 10 times one will have a new take of the song and appreciate it more. Even I thought I knew enough Bengali that I didn't need the English versions but I have found they have helped me so much with my understanding the mood of the songs

The books were printed in India and the majority of them will be sold in India during and before Kartik .We do have some here and anyone who would like one now can contact me and I will help arrange.

One more thing -there is both bengali and english for each song so if anyone wants to sing bengali they can do that as well. there are 143 songs -many of them are not in Gaudiya gitigucha (around 50!)

haiya~! will you be presenting some o' these english versions? very soon? in orchidland? what a sweet little temple your mom an' sisters hold there . . . i'd love to experience th' translations an' am fulfilled just knowing that you are able to appreciate th' meaning o' th' songs much more in depth now. . . . i have always felt that it is so crucial to know what you are singing about so that your conscience can choose th' right works for you personally! I have scrybed many songs/bhajans since I have come into Srila Narayana Maharaja's association, some for th' eight girlfriends an' kirtida an vrsnabhanu maharaja! love to share songs an' maybe swap a cd for a book
