I am far from being a pure soul; many lifetimes to go yet before coming close to that level; Gurudeva is a pure soul and he is trying to teach us how to love and serve Krishna. It's like climibing a ladder and the main thing is that you make progress each lifetime until one day you achieve your goal. The only thing we take with us into our next life is our spiritual progress; everything else is lost because it has no significance, it is only material. So, if we do not make any effort in relation to spiritual life, we are wasting our time. This human form is specifically meant for self-realisation because we have been given intelligence unlike other life forms. I was a Christian before coming to Krishna Consciousness (notice the similarity of the words); Krishna is the original. In all my years of being in Christianity, never once was the subject of the soul touched; why? Because they have no understanding. Krishna Consciousness is the complete truth. So I am forever grateful that I have been brought to this stage in my life. I am also blessed to be able to work from home as this is a much better situation for my family. I have alot of support from my immediate family and of course other Vaisnavas; having their association is extremely important. I don't have much to do with my extended family and I prefer it that way because our lives are totally different. In fact, some of them thought I was losing my mind coming to Krishna Consciousness. If anyone poses a threat to my spiritual life, I cease association with them. This is the most important thing in my life. So Prabhu, I am only at the beginning of a very long journey and it may be 10, 20 lifetimes from now that I attain that level of prema, pure love for Krishna and go to Goloka Vrndavana, but as long as I always have the service of the Vaisnavas and Gurudeva, I will be very blessed.

As long as one can rise very early in the morning, before the sun rises, it is not hard to complete rounds. However, when I was chanting 64, the first half was done in the morning and the rest broken up through the day as I had to work around my usual tasks. I like to have all my chanting over with before I have to start my routine through the day. Once daylight streams in, the mind changes and is busy thinking about work ( this is when the mode of passion is prominent). Before the sun rises is the best time to chant because the mode of goodness is prominent then. And in the evening, the mode of ignorance takes over (wanting to relax and enjoy). So, because I have come down to 32 rounds again until my mood is more sincere, it is very easy to complete them before thoughts of work take over. I have been a vegetarian for 4 years and will never eat meat again. I now understand why I struggled for so many of my teenage years trying to stop eating meat. Our sanga is strong and growing over different parts of New Zealand; when it was founded and where it originated from I am not sure, but Gurudeva has been a devotee his whole life; he was brought up in a very devotional family and his spiritual master was Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Goswami Maharaja; he and Swamiji (Srila Prabhupada) were also Godbrothers. Swamiji requested Gurudeva to put him in samadhi and to also look after and guide his disciples once he was gone. Gurudeva was also a great help to Swamiji when he came to the West to spread Krishna Consciousness. He sent Swamiji the first mrdangas and karatalas and constantly helped him through the years. Swamiji also took siksa initiation (sannyasi) from Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Goswami Maharaja so Gurudeva and Swamiji are very much connected. I am very glad that you liked the poetry.
