- In 1976 I was living in Boston . A friend of mine, who introduced me to almost all the esoteric and yoga paths that were well- known in America at that time, one day talked to me about Krsna, an 'avatar', according to him, (he was impersonalist). Until that time I had visited a number of those paths and yoga groups, but none of them could deeply satisfy my heart. Then, when I heard that word, I immediately said, 'Can you tell me more about Krsna? I think I have heard that name before, but I don't know anything about him.'. Then he told me that this 'avatar' had come as a country boy who took care of cows, and played the flute, and while doing so, he enchanted all the cowherd maidens of the village, and all fell in love with him. I loved that story ( I was a romantic girl, ) and immediately asked him if he knew of a book where I could read more aboout this cowherd-boy 'Krsna'. But he said 'No', so I could only hope of the day when I could find something in a library or bookstore. Then one day I talked to a young man in yogi pants, and he told me it was not difficult to meet the Hare Krsna people, as they used to chant and dance in the park. They would probably give me such book and more details about 'Krsna.' Although I had seen those 'Hare Krsnas' a few times in the past, I did not see them again after talking to this man. Then one day I was searching for an easy and flexible kind of job, and there was an agency in Boston where you could get a baby-sitting job according to your ideas, and I looked it up in the telephone directory.......'International Sitting Service'. It so happened that when I read that line my eyes immediately went up to the next line, which read....'International Society for Krsna Consciousness'. My eyes could not believe what they were seeing....'Oh! This must be the place of Krsna thath I'm looking for! I don't believe it!' I immediately called them up and they told me all about their daily classes ( Bhagavad Gita'etc') and their Sunday feast, and sure enough the next Sunday I was the first guest to arrive, and after that I never failed going to those feasts,(one of the main reasons being...that unforgettable golden halava with raisins they used to serve!) and started going to some classes, too. I also went to stay overnight on some week-ends, when the devotees invited me...and after a few months, I could not help but moving in!!!!....HARIBOL!!!
I cannot tell how I met Srila Prabhupada..... because I never did, only by heart, as Srila Prabhupada was already ill in Vrindavan, but in his usually unserpassably merciful way, he sent me my Harinam initiation by letter, along with my name!!!

SEEING NO ONE IN THIS WORLD MORE SAD THAN ONE WHO FAILS TO WORSHIP THE MERCIFUL SRI CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU AND NO ONE MORE POOR AND FALLEN THAN ONE WHO REJECTS THE INCONCEIVABLY MERCIFUL NAVADVIPA DHAMA, THAKUR BHAKTIVINODA PLEADS,
"O BROTHERS, GIVE UP ALL YOUR ATTACHMENTS. THEY ARE ONLY CHEATING YOU. FIX YOUR MIND WITH ONE--POINTED ATTENTION ON REACHING NAVADVIPA DHAMA, THE HOLY LAND OF SRI CAITANYA."

Bhaktivinoda Thakura thus reveals the truth about Navadvipa Dham.
NOW HEAR O DEVOTEES THE DESCRIPTION OF NAVADVIPA DHAMA.
WITHIN THE THIRTY TWO--MILE CIRCUMFERENCE OF NAVADVIPA, THERE ARE SIXTEEN ETERNAL STREAMS.
On the east bank of the main branch of the Ganges there are four islands, and on the west bank, five. The different tributaries of the Ganges surround these nine islands and increase the splendour of the holy land.
Near the Ganges flow the sweet and beautiful river Yamuna and the divinely musical Sarasvati. East of the Yamuna there are three long rivers:
the Tamraparni, the Tritamala, and the Brahmaputra. The Sarayuk, Narmada, Kareri, and Gomati rivers cross the others and run swiftly with the Godavari.
Where all these rivers intersect, they form the nine islands of Navadvipa Dhama.
SRI NAVADVIPA ASTAKAM (Srila Rupa Goswami)
1. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, the beautiful land of Lord Gaura by the side of the heavenly reservoir, which is eternally pure, shining and full of bliss.
2. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, which some say is the spiritual sky, Vaikuntha loka, and others say is the transcendental realm of Goloka. But those who have realized the truth know it as Sri Vrindavan Dham.
3. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, where in all directions, gentle , cooling breezes and various shade trees manifest where Lord Gaura performed His lila.
4. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, where the Ganges flows within banks of golden stairs and where Lord Gaura enjoyed transcendental pastimes.
5. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, where limitless golden palaces charmingly house the goddess of fortune.
6. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, where the people are endowed with knowledge, compassion, tolerance, sacrifice and the six opulences, and are glorified by the rishis, demigods and siddhas.
7. I meditate on Sri Navadvipa Dham, where in the center lies the ever blissful home of Jagannatha Misra enriched with the radiant pastimes of Lord Gaura.
8. I meditate on Sri Navdvipa Dham, where the golden Lord Hari is wandering with His devotees, chanting the Holy Names of Krsna with great love, and immersing everyone in the ocean of prema bhakti.
9. That person who daily recites and remembers with affection this astakam to Sri Navadvipa Dham, achieves the very rare jewel of prema and the lotus feet of my Sriman Sacinandan.
To have these inner realizations, we must always humbly chant Krsna's Holy Names following the instructions of Sri Krsna Caitanya in His Siksastaka.
trnad api sunicena taror api sahisnuna
amanina manadena kirtaniya sada harih
One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than a blade of grass.
One should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and shoud be ready to offer all respects to others.
In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.
BEAUTIFUL NAVADVIPA DHAM.
Gaura Mandala is a transcendental wish-fulfilling jewel, a land of beauty and harmony where all things, even the water, the earth, and the trees, are fully conscious and ecstatic. Within the inner circle of Gaura Mandala, in the area known as Navadvipa Dham, the numerous residents are golden in complexion and always perform nama sankirtan.
The demigods, headed by the creator of the universe Lord Brahma, descend from the higher planetary systems to worship the residents of Navadvipa.
Lord Brahma says,"When will I have the good fortune to take birth as a blade of grass in Navadvipa Dham? There I can wear as my crown the dust of the holy feet of those who serve the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya.
Whoever lives in Navadvipa Dham is most fortunate, for he develops attachment for Sri Krsna. Anyone who happens to wander into Navadvipa Dham becomes freed from all offences and sins.
Whatever benefit one gets by travelling to all other holy places is attained just by remembering Navadvipa Dham.
The scriptures confirm that one who walks through Navadvipa Dham achieves with each step the merits of ten million asvamedha horse sacrifices.
One who attains the mercy of Lord Nityananda can see that land of harmony, beauty and ecstasy which is fully conscious and transcendental. Within that holy land flow all the sacred rivers , beginning with the Yamuna and the Ganges. And there one can find the seven holy places, beginning with Prayaga. Only a fortunate soul can see that spotless domain of the Supreme Godhead. On the order of the Lord Himself, that divine realm is hidden by the clouds of illusion from the external vision of worldly souls, who can never perceive its divinity. Those who eternally live in Gaura Mandala, however, are most fortunate. They have attained the world beyond birth and death.

EIGHT OF THE ISLANDS ARE PETALS SURROUNDING THE NINTH ISLAND, ANTARDVIPA, THE WHORL OF THE LOTUS, WHICH IS TEN MILES IN CIRCUMFERENCE. THE VERY CENTER OF THAT WHORL IS CALLED THE YOGAPITHA,THE HOLY PLACE WHERE SRI CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU ADVENTED HIMSELF ON THIS EARTH.

Just want to tell you, especially very young and innocent devotees, that be careful with the messages you receive. About two days ago I opened a message I received in my page and it was nothing but the most disgusting pornographic photos and propaganda for illicit sex. I immediately deleted it, but I should have written the name so as to warn everyone. Now I don't know who is in charge of this SANGA SPACE who might be able to screen those who sign up here.
If you know please let him know.
