About Me:

I was born in 1952 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up there until at the age of eighteen years. Just after graduating from High School, I met devotees of Krsna in the summer of 1970. I was immediately attracted to them and soon thereafter began my 39 year career in Krsna consciousness by moving into the Detroit temple of ISKCON. After two months, I was sent to help start the first temple of Krsna in Chicago, Illinois where I served for my first year. In the summer of 1971, in Detroit, I met for the first time, my beloved Spiritual Master, His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and received first initiation, Hari Nama from Him. For the next year I remained in Chicago and in 1971 in New Vrindavana, West Virginia, I met Him for the second time and received my second initiation into the Gayatri diksha mantras.
I served in the U.S during my first five years in Detroit, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Philadelphia, Boston and Brooklyn, New York. I was mainly engaged in these first five years in preaching daily on Hari Nama samkirtan and book distribution in public.
In 1975 I was blessed to go to India to attend the first major Gaura purnima festival with Srila Prabhupada in Mayapura, Nabadwipa, West Bengal along with several hundred foreign devotees from around the world. I was also present in Vrindavna, U.P. for the grand celebration of the opening of the Krsna Balarama Temple and the installation of the beautiful deities of Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Sri Krsna Balarama, Sri Sri Radha-Shyamasundara, Lalita and Vishakha Devis, and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura and Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja (which was the first deity form installed and worshipped of Him).
After that festival, I stayed in Vrindavan doing deity worship for two more months and then returned to the U.S. Upon arrival in the U.S. I was sent to Los Angeles to become part of the production team for Srila Prabhupada's Caitanya Caritamrta which was produced at a miraculous pace in a round the clock marathon of two months.
After that for the next year, I travelled in a van around the U.S. distributing books and then resided in St. Louis temple until March of 1977 when I returned to India for the following year. During that year I went to Bangladesh preaching for four months and then resided in Vrindavana where Srila Prabhupada was in His final days of His manifest pastimes. I was fortunate to be with Him upon His departure into Nitya Lila. It was on that very evening when I met my beloved Siksha and Sannyasa Guru, His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Who had come to perform the samadhi of Srila Prabhupada. My first sight of Him was through the ears as He led the Guru puja kirtan that evening for Srila Prabhupada in the temple room while the first Guru puja after His departure was being perfomed to His Holy form on the Vyas Asana. I will never forget that moment when I became overwhelmed by the mood and devotional potency of His kirtan on that most eventful evening......

We have an offering:

Through four years of severe austerities and distribution of the Holy Name via our records and stage performances from coast to coast, Whisper and I have found that the inhabitants of Ithaca, New York are thirsty for the sri Krishna Sankirtan. So much so, that after two years of finishing our tour here, we had been invited to host a regular kirtan at the Ahimsa Yoga studio, invited again to commence the program over the winter this third year. After three years, have been blessed with a beautiful house that we offer as an ashram to Srila Gurudeva, the deity of lord Chaitanya and the Radha-Syamasudara stone.

Our consistency has attracted a third aspiring Vaishnava, named Buffalo-Turtle-Snowflake Jim who has begged me to read the Bhagavad-Gita As It Is to Him. During the Third chapter we were blessed with a house to care for the deities and maintain a regular sadhana-bhakti yoga program in.

This acquisition was not an easy task but rather than maintain a false sense of proprietorship, Whisper, Jim and I would like to offer this ashrama to srila Gurudeva and his Vaishnavas as a sanctuary and outpost for the teachings of srila Gurudeva and the Vaishnava Acharyas.

You can consider this an invitation to come and discipline us, for we are merely chanting fools with no real knowledge of Chaitanya Chritamrita or Srimad Bhagavatam. We chant from the fire set in my heart by young Dwarakadisha Das Kamhout and Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda and are requesting bhjana siksa and training in the Vaishnava way.

We will maintain this ashram to the best standards as shown to me by Jagad Guru's disciples and pray for visits from his and srila Gurudeva's messengers.

Please consider our four years of distance from any Vaishnava community, how we long for Vaishnava association and and how difficult it is to maintain integrity in the separation from sri Guru and his disciples.
