About Me:: I am currently residing in the palliative care wing of a Christchurch Care Centre. I have terminal kidney cancer diagnosed 2 years ago. My health recently took a turn for the worse and I am now preparing for death. My wife and I are now separated so I am able to focus on my Krishna consciousness.

I used to be a musician running a community recording studio. I have spent many years producing devotional music in New Zealand, some of which I am gradually posting on my profile.

I joined ISKCON in 1981, and was first initiated by Bhavananda Prabhu.I spent the first 6 years as a brahmacari and performed deity worship, cooking, managed two restaurants, performed travelling preaching, management and Congregational development.

After the collapse of my first arranged marriage I spent many years on my own searching my soul and during that time took shelter of HH Tamal Krishna Goswami. After he left this world I found myself lost. I eventually met a wonderful devotee and remarried we were both very happy for some time until my cancer diagnosis which has now forced me to become very serious about my spiritual life.

I have not as yet met Srila Narayana Maharaja, but have been inspired by how He has helped inspire my sister Hari Priya didi and my long term friends Harsarani didi and Madhu Pandita Prabhu.

Mostly I am now spending my time hearing and chanting, sharing my realisations with devotees that visit me and although I do not consider myself an advanced spiritualist I am writing a small book on my journey towards death, although my target audience is primarily directed to non-devotees it is greatly influenced by my Krishna consciousness and contains many quotes from sastra. If I find there is an interest I may consider including excerpts from my writings on my profile. I welcome any questions or comments on my situation as my foremost realisation is the importance of sadhu sanga. I am fortunate that the staff here are very wonderful and I often find myself preaching to some of them. They often comment how they have never before seen anyone with so much support - a real tribute to the love of the devotees.

The introduction to my book

This book was first inspired by my first meeting with HH Tridandi Swami, who encouraged me to write about my battle with terminal cancer.

For some time it seemed an overwhelming task, but now as my final days appear to be getting closer it has given me a great sense of purpose and a positive focus for the time I have left.

My daily program

Because of my health and the sudden, almost complete loss of my independence, even though the temple is only a few blocks away I rarely attend the morning program. I did one time and ended up giving Srimad Bhagavatam class.

My body tends to wake me up around 2:30 to 3:30am at which time I get up and offer my obeisances to the Sri Sri Gaura Nitai deities in my tiny hospice room that now looks like my personal tribute to Krishna consciousness. I then go to the toilet and empty my nephrost…

I hanker for a practical service because of situation.

I have also (for my sister) edited and cleaned up a japa recording of Narayana Maharaja . I have removed a great deal of the hiss and removed the door slamming and creaking that was present in the original recording. There are two copies, one is Narayana Maharaja on His own and the other includes AC Bhaktivedanta Swami as well.
