Haribol!Dandavats!First I want to send nuff props to Braja Raja Dasa for putting this thing together.Very excited to be a part of this.As someone who has,over the last 22 years held down the 4 elements(MCing,DJing,b-boying,&graffiti),I have been brainstorming on how to apply this to KRSNA consciousness.Anything of some merit may be used in KRSNAs service.Music can spread a message far & wide,but an entire culture has far more lasting impact.This is evidenced not only by the acceptance of hip-hop on a global scale,but also by the impact of KRSNA consciousness& Vedic culture on all continents.So,how do the 2 cultures relate?Both are obviously here to stay,though only 1 will see one back to Godhead.A Vaisnava who raps or produces,or breaks during public sankirtana or creates murals that helps this movement seem more,I dunno,accessible to the masses performs a valuable service to Guru & Sri Gauranga.Thats what a harmonious marriage of the 2 cultures would entail.Keep the message of the Acaryas,distribute the holy name,& remain uncompromising to those materialists who want a philosophy that bends to their whims.The KRSNA-CORE punk movement of the early 90's had some success with this.I feel the generation thats trying to find new methods of preaching(thats us,make no mistake about it,ours is a preaching mission)will see a great deal of people stop & take notice,simply through using the elements of hip-hop.All glories to Srila Gurudeva!Jaya hip-hop kirtaniyas!
